The knots provide a barrier between each gemstone bead to prevent them from knocking and rubbing against each other, and on the cord; eventually leading to fraying and breakage.
Speaking of cord - after much trial and error, I've found Brazilian waxed cord to be both the strongest, and most water-resistant of the options available.
Lastly, our jewelry is always finished with stainless steel findings for their hypoallergenic and tarnish-free properties.
